On November 5th 2010 Walnut Ridge was host for the 2010 Woodland Owner Conference field tour sponsored by the Indiana Forestry and Woodland Owners Association and the Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District. With the IDNR district forester Jayson Waterman and forestry consultant Brian Gandy, members viewed the seven acre tree planting from spring 2009, a 30 year old walnut plantation, Asian-bush honeysuckle control started in 2009 using cost share funds, and native timber stands. They also viewed a state threatened and endangered species, Kentucky viburnum located on Walnut Ridge.
