Located 10 minutes (6 miles) southeast of Centerville, Walnut Ridge is located in Center Township within Wayne County, Indiana. Additional dedicated forest areas/nature preserves are near Walnut Ridge. Lick Creek Nature Preserve is located directly to the east adjacent to Walnut Ridge. The Whitewater Valley Land Trust owns property to the west of Walnut Ridge. Cope Environmental Center is located approximately 3 miles to the northwest. The closest Cardinal Greenway trailhead (D Street, Richmond) is 5 miles to the northeast.
Other locations of interest nearby include the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, located 45 minutes (25 miles) to the southwest in Fayette County and Whitewater Memorial State Park located 23 minutes (15 miles) to the south of Walnut Ridge.
